Photoshop CS4 Deception

Wed Nov 12, 2008, 6:38 PM
Stick to any previous photoshop version, CS4 will give you nothing but headache with all the openGL requirement, it has some nice new features but it's not worth upgrading unless you have a Good video card( which i do) and some money to throw away(which i don't). I tried it, uninstalled it and went back to CS3.

Just an advice for people that like to upgrade to every new version( myself included)

Try it before you buy it and decide for yourself.

  • Mood: Tired
  • Reading: Imagine FX
  • Watching: One piece
  • Playing: Finally trying Gears of War 1
  • Eating: Thai food
  • Drinking: Cola

I'm happy with CS2 personally, I guess it's always an issue when it comes to a new version of anything, kinks and bugs are rampant until years later when they're finally fixed up

Agreed. I downloaded, tried it.... and it was alright. It looked different, which was nice. But I couldn't figure out any real reason why I should keep it.

It's CS3 for me

From what I understand about CS4, you'd need an operating system that works under 64-bit mode, like WinXP Pro 64-bit edition or Windows Vista 64-bit ed, and a ton of memory to get any of it's good features out of it as well. CS3 and The GIMP has everything I need, for day to day business anway.

Then again, I don't have any 64-bit OS other than Linux, and just recently figured out how to get the audio for my laptop to work properly. Go figure.

I like SAI also a lot, i haven't messed with the gimp yet.
:iconayanematrix:
SAI? Do you mean Adobe Illustrator? I'm probably reading that wrong somehow. It's also past 6 AM here.

But, as for photo editing, GIMP is a fairly well rounded application, plus it's free and runs on multiple platforms. And, another good application, mostly for vector graphics, is . I've never used something that works so easily just after installing it and without reading the manual.

Ack! My previous post somehow messed up.

I was trying to talk about Inkscape, but DA somehow merged the link into the rest of the sentence.

MY brother works for a Pre-press Firm and he's beating his head against the wall trying to get CS4 Illustrator files to talk properly to the Webpresses and Rippers. Thy always release this software before fully testing it. The software industry figures it'll have us do the testing for it, at our expense. Grrrrrr.

I'll stick with GIMP thanks. I gave up on Photoshop way back after version 7. When they started bundling stuff, I copped out. Not everybody wants a suite for everything. =P
